Small class sizes allow caring teachers to provide individual student attention.
Our low teacher student ratio makes a difference. While there are many debates surrounding best practices for schools, there is very little debate in the educational community surrounding small class sizes. Everyone agrees: small class size is essential for strong student achievement.
What are the advantages of small class sizes to students?
- student performance improves
- stronger reading and math abilities
- fewer discipline problems
- improved teacher morale and enthusiasm
- high levels of classroom participation
- more instructional time and more subject matter covered
- greater joy of learning
Foundation Christian School currently limits class sizes to twenty students. The students receive greater individual attention, and are able to work well in teams composed of varying ability levels because they have the Christian values and grounding that makes genuine acceptance of their peers possible.
Dedicated Christian teaching staff.
Parents who come to the school to meet our headmaster and teachers immediately notice the feeling and atmosphere that permeates the school. The entire staff of Foundation Christian School have dedicated themselves to working in a Christian environment where they are able to share the love of Jesus in all areas of the academic curriculum, both inside and outside of the classroom - and it shows!
All core subject teachers are certified by the Ontario Ministry of Education, and are encouraged to regularly participate in professional development to augment their skills.
Welcoming multi-cultural and non-denominational environment.
Foundation does not discriminate. We welcome students from all Faiths, religious denominations, and ethnic backgrounds.
We are not affiliated with a particular religious doctrine. Our teachings are based on the inspired and infallible Word of God, the Holy Bible. We are proud to share the love of Jesus with believers and non-believers alike.
Before and after school programs delivered by qualified teachers.
Foundation has a comprehensive program for before and after school care that parents can opt into weekly, daily, or on an as-needs basis, with a cost that is affordable to all.
Certified teachers administer this program where a variety of learning opportunities are available including enrichment and remedial assistance.
Academics that strive to exceed Ministry standards.
Foundation not only meets the provincial Ministry standards, we aim to exceed them. We are one of the few elementary schools in which grade eight students are offered a reach-ahead grade nine credit that students can apply to their secondary school diploma.
French instruction beginning in JK.
Our multi-linguistic French teacher delivers a fun and creative program for all students, from kindergarten to grade eight.
Respectful school dress code.
Foundation's respectful school dress code eliminates the pressures of worldly dress. In partnership with our families, we expect students to hold high standards of personal appearance. We do so because Christians are admonished in the scriptures to observe the principles of modesty and the glorification of God.
The Foundation dress code prescribes a 'uniformed look' composed of everyday clothing items in the school colours. Some of the advantages of a dress code for students include a sense of belonging, instillation of school pride, elimination of brand label competition, greater emphasis on differentiation through expression in school work rather than appearance, easy clothing selection, and school security.
Diverse extra-curricular activities.
On top of solid academics, Foundation provides opportunities for children to develop mentally, spiritually and physically by offering enhanced learning activities in a variety of areas including:
- Astronomy
- Art appreciation
- Computer club
- French club
- Newspaper club
- Chess club
- Guitar club
- Choir
- Musical theatre
- Christmas pageant
- Music - voice and piano*
- Running club
- Lunch hour fitness activities
*Voice and piano lessons are offered at school, for a fee, by private instruction.
